Terms of Service
Last Updated: March 8, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using DoctorCert UK ("we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy, which includes cookie information. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use our services.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and DoctorCert UK, governed by the laws of England and Wales.
2. Nature of Service
DoctorCert UK provides an online platform connecting patients with UK General Medical Council (GMC) registered doctors for the purpose of obtaining private medical certificates. Our service enables you to request a medical certificate based on the information you provide, which is then reviewed by a qualified clinician.
Medical certificates issued through our service are based solely on the information you provide and a remote clinical assessment. They are not based on a physical examination.
3. Eligibility
To use our service, you must:
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom.
- Provide truthful, accurate, and complete information in your request.
- Not use this service to obtain certificates for fraudulent, misleading, or unlawful purposes.
We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who does not meet these eligibility requirements or who we reasonably believe is misusing the service.
4. Clinical Assessment and Discretion
All requests are subject to independent clinical review by a GMC-registered doctor. Our clinicians exercise full professional independence and clinical judgement. A doctor may decline your request if:
- The condition cannot be safely or appropriately assessed remotely.
- The information provided is insufficient to support a clinical determination.
- A medical certificate is not clinically indicated based on the information provided.
- The request falls outside the scope of the service (for example, involving controlled substances, serious mental health crises, or conditions requiring physical examination).
If your request is declined on clinical grounds, you will be issued a full refund in accordance with our Refund Policy (Section 6).
5. Your Responsibilities
By using our service, you confirm and agree that:
- All information you provide is truthful, accurate, and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- You understand that providing false or misleading information may constitute a criminal offence under applicable UK legislation.
- You will not use a certificate obtained through our service for any fraudulent or unlawful purpose.
- You are responsible for providing a valid email address and mobile number for delivery of your certificate and communications.
- You acknowledge that our service does not replace your own GP, ongoing medical treatment, or emergency care.
6. Refund Policy
We believe in fair and transparent refund practices:
- Full Refund: If our clinician is unable to issue your certificate on clinical grounds, you will receive a full refund. Refunds are typically processed within 3-5 business days, depending on your payment provider.
- No Refund After Issuance: Once a certificate has been issued and delivered to you, refunds are not available unless there was an error attributable to us. Refunds are not normally available because an employer, university, insurer, airline, or other third party declines to accept a certificate that has been issued.
- Service Issues: If you experience a technical or service issue that prevents delivery of your certificate, please contact us promptly and we will work to resolve it or issue a refund as appropriate.
All refund requests should be directed to support@doctorcert.co.uk.
7. Limitations of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- DoctorCert UK acts as a platform facilitating the provision of medical services by independent GMC-registered clinicians. We are not liable for clinical decisions made by individual doctors in the exercise of their professional judgement.
- We are not liable for the rejection or non-acceptance of a certificate by any employer, educational institution, or other third party.
- We are not liable for any loss of earnings, consequential losses, or damages arising from your use of our service, except where such liability cannot be excluded by law.
- We are not responsible for consequences arising from false, incomplete, or misleading information provided by you.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
8. Intellectual Property
All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, page design, and software, is the property of DoctorCert UK or its licensors and is protected by UK and international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any content on this website without our prior written consent.
9. Service Availability
We aim to provide a reliable and accessible service, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Our service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or circumstances beyond our control. We will endeavour to minimise any disruption and restore service as quickly as reasonably practicable.
10. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
11. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these terms at any time. Material changes will be indicated by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the service following any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
